I was suffering from boredom the other day, so I decided I would clean up the rear panel on Buttercup.

The "Futura" logo was pretty faded, and almost all the black detailing was gone as well. I gave the panel a bath in the bathtub, (and got fussed out for it by the Wife Unit... she claimed I pay more attention to Buttercup than her! :-$ ), and scrubbed 46 years of mildew and grunge from the inside of the panel. I also scrubbed inside and out with Comet cleanser and a sponge.

Major improvement, but still bored. So I decided to detail the panel back as closely as I could to stock original. About an hour and a half later, some 3M blue painters tape, some Suretape yellow masking tape, (my fav for painting clear plastic slot car and R/C car bodies) an X-acto knife, a Testors flat black paint pen (with a gloss black tip, so I got a semi-gloss), and some Duplicolor semi-gloss black spray, and I was ready to re-install.

A little polishing with some 600 grit wet paper on the raised bars, and I think the results are not half bad for a couple hours work.

It seems I can no longer post pics here? What happened?

Jeff, the tranny got much better after I painted the engine and replaced everything I took off. (o)

I'm thinking there might have been a vacum leak somewhere that I fixed when I reinstalled everything.
