Hi all, I got a rebuild kit and a couple of new brass floats from NAPA to rebuild my Holly 4150. I'm going to try to do this right and follow directions. The directions call for using compressed air to blow out passages. Can I simply use the carb cleaner in a spray can and put the nozzel right up to the passage hole or oriffice to inject cleaner into the passages? I've been soaking and cleaning the disassembled parts in Berryman parts cleaner.

Any other tips on rebuilding a 4 bbl would be welcome.

Thanks

It'll work but it's no ideal. You should also take a trip to Walmart (or office supply) and pick up some 3M "canned air" Dust Remover to blow out and dry the passages. You especially want the metering block and main body surfaces to be clean, dry and free of fingerprints. Handle the blue non-stick gaskets by the sides and try not to finger the face of the gaskets. Also pay special attention to the power valve gasket(s) - dab a little WD-40 on the threads to prevent galling and be sure the gasket is seated correctly between the valve and the metering block. A mistake in this area guarantees a leak and a rough running engine.

Note - if you are using a NAPA house kit and not a genuine Holley kit - take it back and get the real deal. They should have it, or you can buy them at Advance and O'Reillys. Do NOT use a generic kit on a Holley.

Hi guys, I got a "float hardware" kit for my Holley by ordering through AutoZone. It included the small spring I need.

Thanks
